Disney offered $20 million for a "non-exclusive perpetual license" to certain Character Technologies IP in a bankruptcy proceeding that began this week. Disney sent Character.AI a cease-and-desist in September 2025 over sexualized Disney-character chatbots, and has since hired former Character.AI chief Karandeep Anand as its first CTO.
