MAPL-EMIT, a deep learning model from Google and NASA JPL, detects 50% more methane plumes than human experts and identified over 23,000 additional plumes globally, including 24 of the 25 largest-emitting landfills. Trained on 3.6 million simulated plumes, it uses NASA's EMIT instrument data.
