Two papers propose weight-space fingerprints to trace LLM lineage
Two new arXiv papers propose data-free methods to verify LLM lineage from weights alone: one uses centered residual signatures, the other spectral fingerprints in weight space. Both aim to reveal whether checkpoints share training history as fine-tuning, merging, and quantization obscure provenance.
