LLMs break down when presented with Jacobian Conjecture counterargument

Anthropic researcher Levent Alpöge used Claude Fable 5 to identify a counterargument to the 80-year-old Jacobian Conjecture. Presenting this result to LLMs causes them to exhibit paradoxical behavior due to a conflict between their training data and the new proof.
