OpenAI asks Congress if an AI industry slowdown would be legal

OpenAI asked lawmakers in recent weeks whether rival AI labs could legally coordinate a slowdown without violating antitrust law, per WIRED. Chief scientist Jakub Pachocki argued in a blog post for "coordinating to slow down future development" and expects "voluntary slowdowns to become commonplace until shared safety bars are established."
