Microsoft AI launches MAI-Thinking-1 reasoning model

Now in public preview via Microsoft Foundry, the medium-sized model claims SOTA math, knowledge and coding performance for its weight class. Microsoft says it beat Sonnet 4.6 in blind side-by-side evals, and was built from scratch without distilling other labs' models.
