OpenAI expects AGI by end of 2026, Altman tells TIME

Sam Altman told TIME that OpenAI expects to have an internal system he would call AGI by the end of 2026, estimating they are 80% of the way there. Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki says the unreleased Astra model is the "Automated AI Research Intern" he aimed for by September 2026.
