26 tech giants sign letter supporting open-weight AI; Anthropic refuses
26 companies including Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Google, OpenAI, and Cohere signed a letter urging the US government not to ban open-weight AI models. Anthropic is the only major AI lab not signing. The New York Times reports that OpenAI and Anthropic have quietly lobbied against open-source.
