Robot Recycler Salvages Parts from Broken Machines

KIT researchers built a robot recycler whose predictive algorithm guesses how a robot broke, then guides manipulators to disassemble it and salvage parts. Designer Jan Baumgärtner: "We can imagine 100 ways that something can go wrong." Over 4 million industrial robots are in use worldwide, projected to grow to 16 million by 2030.
