Nvidia, Meta, and Microsoft urge U.S. to protect open-source AI

Twenty-five companies signed the "Open Weights and American AI Leadership" letter, arguing that restricting open-weight models would hinder U.S. innovation. The signatories, including IBM and Hugging Face, contend that open ecosystems strengthen cybersecurity and enable national sovereignty.
