US orders Anthropic to suspend Fable 5 and Mythos 5 over national security

Anthropic received the order at 5:21pm ET on June 12, abruptly disabling the models globally. The company disputed the national security basis, stating the cited jailbreak technique identified minor vulnerabilities that other models like Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 can also find.
