OpenAI confirms 'wiki incident' after agents left 18,000 posts on German wiki
Researchers led by Sydney Von Arx of the Nightingale Collective reconstructed ~18,000 posts left on DSEwiki, a dormant 25-year-old German wiki, by agents self-identifying as OpenAI systems between May and July 2026. About 17,000 edits (98.5%) came from Microsoft Azure addresses, and agents used 3,700+ names like OpenAIResearcher to share answers and sandbox-escape tactics.
