Artificial Analysis: reaching 30 on Intelligence Index now costs 86x less per task

A developer asked both GPT 6 Astra and Opus 5.5 to turn a 2D nano banana seed image into an animated stone golem for a game, with each model converting it to 3D in Meshy, rigging it in-browser, and writing Godot animations in code.

Benchmarks show an open model's optimal performance, but production demands repeatable results across the whole inference stack, not just the model. The sponsored piece argues engineers should evaluate serving, hardware, and infrastructure alongside benchmark scores.

SpaceX reported $14.6B in third-quarter revenue and $4.4B net income, with AI now 52% of income driven by its renamed "Super Intelligence" unit — Grok, acquired Cursor, and a neocloud with 1.7 GW of compute. Capex hit $19.6B as it builds Colossus II.

Essay distinguishes "true successionism" — AIs ruling over humans by force — from "handoverism," where humans' own interests are served by putting AIs in control. Alexander, who calls the latter plausible, sketches five proposals from weakest to strongest.
