Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 is the first Chinese open-weight model to match Western frontier AI on coding benchmarks, per an analysis from MindStudio. Built on a sparse mixture-of-experts architecture, it follows the lab's Kimi K2 and k1.5 releases from the Beijing-based lab founded in 2023.
