White House asks OpenAI to slow roll GPT 5.6 release over safety concerns

OpenAI will share GPT 5.6 only with select partners after the Trump administration requested a limited preview, with CEO Sam Altman telling staff the government will approve access customer by customer. The move follows Anthropic's voluntary restricted release of its Claude Mythos model under Project Glasswing.
