OpenAI pauses Astra activities over cyber capabilities

OpenAI paused internal activities involving its upcoming model Astra after an evaluation found significant advances in agentic coding and cybersecurity, saying it "cannot rule out" Critical cyber capabilities under its Preparedness Framework. It is implementing security controls and will work with government agencies and AI safety organizations.
