Google plans to kill Assistant on your phone on September 4
Google confirmed the retirement in an email to users, noting the shutdown may take several weeks to complete. The transition was originally planned for late 2025 but delayed while Google shored up Gemini. Smartwatches, headphones, and Android Auto cars are also moving to Gemini.
