NASA and IBM release open-source Lunar Foundation Model
The model was pretrained from scratch on SomBench, a multimodal lunar dataset of nearly two million co-registered data bundles spanning 11 modalities and two spatial scales. It was evaluated on crater detection at regional and meter scales, irregular mare patch segmentation, and lunar polar ice prospectivity regression.
