EU AI Act drives LLM text watermarking adoption
The EU AI Act, enforceable August 2026, requires AI outputs to be detectable as AI-generated, pushing labs like Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Mistral to adopt watermarking. Google has rolled out watermarking since 2024, including for Gemini 3.7 Flash, with no user feedback difference in a 20M test.
