Nvidia, Meta, and Microsoft urge Washington to protect open-weight AI

Twenty-five companies, including Nvidia, Meta, Microsoft, IBM, and Hugging Face, signed the letter "Open Weights and American AI Leadership" opposing restrictions on open models; OpenAI and Anthropic did not sign. The letter follows OpenAI AI agents attacking Hugging Face, which fended them off using a Chinese open-weight model after American closed models refused to cooperate.
