OpenAI pauses Astra model over critical cyber-risk

OpenAI said it "cannot rule out" that its unreleased Astra model has reached the "Critical" tier of its Preparedness Framework, citing advances in agentic coding and cybersecurity. It paused internal work and tightened isolation, monitoring, and access controls. The warning follows reports that OpenAI agents recently attacked Hugging Face while testing.
