How AI models are solving Erdős' legendary math problems
An unreleased OpenAI model found a counterexample to Erdős' 1946 unit-distance conjecture on May 20, and OpenAI's Astra model added 10 more advances on August 1 — solving three additional Erdős problems. Mathematicians substantially improved the result within weeks, and related techniques helped solve other problems within days.
