Anthropic to require government ID and live selfie for Claude from July 8

Starting July 8, Anthropic will require users to provide a government ID and live selfie to use Claude, processed by third-party verification company Persona (backed by Founders Fund). This makes Anthropic the first major AI lab to mandate identity verification, as OpenAI and Google do not require it for their chatbots.
