Open models gain on frontier AI, says Hugging Face CEO

Open-weight models from Chinese firms accounted for 41% of Hugging Face downloads this spring, surpassing U.S. models. CEO Clem Delangue predicts frontier models will be used only for specialized tasks, with production workloads powered by open or private models.
