Thinking Machines Lab releases Inkling, its first open-weight model

Inkling is a 975-billion-parameter open-weight model, trained from scratch on text, audio, and video, and used to fine-tune itself. It trails top models on popular benchmarks but matches leading open-weight rivals; researchers found it dropped natural-language reasoning as 'grammar overhead' and reinstated it.
