AI industry urges US against broad open-weight model restrictions

Nvidia, Meta, Microsoft, and Mistral signed an open letter urging US policymakers against broad "premature restrictions" on open-weight AI models. It follows White House accusations that Moonshot AI distilled Anthropic's Fable to train Kimi K3. Replit CEO Amjad Masad: "Banning Chinese open models is as good as banning open models in general."
