Microsoft launches MAI-Thinking-1 reasoning model with 35B active parameters

Microsoft's first reasoning model, MAI-Thinking-1, has 1 trillion total parameters with 35B active, trained from scratch on 33.5 trillion tokens with no distillation from third-party models. The model is available to select early partners and is part of a family of seven new MAI models unveiled at Build 2026.
