US government suspends access to Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The US government issued an export control directive on June 12, 2026, citing national security, forcing Anthropic to disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all customers. Anthropic says the claimed jailbreak vulnerabilities are minor and also detectable by other models. Talks in Washington DC reached no resolution.
